Surrey based Gocycle today announced details of its new “fast-folding” Gocycle GX eBike, scheduled for launch in April this year.
Weighing under 18Kg and capable of being folded in 10 seconds, the GX is squarely targeted at commuters who want to be able to carry a bike on rush hour trains, or stow it easily in a car.
Priced at £2,899, it’s in the same general ballpark as a Brompton folding eBike and will no doubt appeal to the same kind of buyers. It’s the third bike in the Gocycle range.
The bike uses Gocycle’s own front hub motor and comes with a 300Wh removable battery that’s integrated into the frame. The company claims a range of up to 40 miles, and recharge time is 7 hours, or 3.5 with the optional fast-charger.
A fully enclosed chain should help keep road-gunk off your office clothes, while the fat 20 x 2.25inch tyres, and front and rear suspension will make rough road-surfaces easier to cope with. Stopping power is provided by hydraulic disc brakes on both wheels.
Like many such bikes, the GX is designed to be wheeled along when it’s folded down, and its stowed dimensions are 880x390x615mm. Buyers can choose between black, white and blue colour schemes, and the brand’s existing range of accessories are fully compatible with the new model.
